Work in progress!

For our first negotiated projects, we were given the poem "Dolor" by Theodore Roethke as our starting point. It was completely up to us how much we decided to use the poem and how heavily we based out work upon it.

For mine, I decided to design a book jacket for a crime novel based on the poem. My chosen demographic was adults between the ages of 20 and 35. As you can see, it is not yet finished, there are still some things that I need to decide on, like the text of the title and author.

Crocky Wock!

Part of the project i am currently working on, which will also be submitted for the V&A Student Illustration Awards Competition when finished.

The brief says to produce two pages for a re-issue of "Dirty Beasts" by Roald Dahl. We were given the poem "The Crocodile" to illustrate.

Editorials!

More uni work, got given these articles to illustrate. You will need to view them in full .
Kind of enjoyed doing these, the short deadline was an exciting challenge.

Party !

This is part 2 of the summer project brief. We had to then put our 7 characters and ourselves, into a
party/social setting. What was going on and how our characters interacted with each other was completely up to us.

We were given Saul Steinberg's "Techniques at a party" to look at.

Finally!...

...have gotten around to updating! Now I can show you what I have been working on! shall kick things off with some characters!

During the summer we were set part 1 of an on going project. We had to design 7 different characters based on the style of 7 different artists/illustrators.

I'm really happy with these, t
hink characters 1,2,4 and 5 are my favourites. As you can see, I am still going with the stitch theme, only I have decided to do it digitally instead.

Practitioner each character is based on
(top to bottom):

1. based on Julia Pott
2.Mariko Yamazaki
3.Bali Engal
4.Simon Wild
5.Dan Ah Kim
6.Muxxi
7.Natsuki Otani

Daily drawing-Raveing it up in the forest!

Today i realised that I do not do enough drawing, outside of uni work that is, so I have come up with a brilliant soloution. From today, each day, I will have a couple of hours of free drawing time, when i can draw whatever i feel like..be it an observational sketch of an object in my room, a random thought turned into pictures, a specific idea for an image that i've had for ages or just a silly doodle. So,here is todays...

Playing around with photoshop...
